It once had two locations: one on West Shaw Avenue, where Texas Roadhouse is now, and another on Fresno Street near Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. The second location has been turned into offices.

Fans were devastated when the last location closed in 2020 when the parent company filed for bankruptcy and closed all 97 locations of its restaurants nationwide.

Some Sweet Tomatoes diehards bought the rights to the brand and have since reopened two locations — in Tucson, Arizona, and Fort Myers, Florida.

The company says is open to new locations, but after a hubbub about it possibly returning to Fresno earlier this summer, shared only its typical boilerplate statement with The Bee about how it has not publicly committed to any new markets.

This story was originally published August 29, 2026 at 8:07 AM.

        Related Stories from Fresno Bee

                Bethany Clough

                    The Fresno Bee

Bethany Clough covers restaurants and retail for The Fresno Bee.
