{"id":447829,"date":"2026-08-30T05:59:21","date_gmt":"2026-08-30T05:59:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/447829\/"},"modified":"2026-08-30T05:59:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T05:59:21","slug":"tom-cruise-announces-days-of-thunder-sequel-with-anne-hathaway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/447829\/","title":{"rendered":"Tom Cruise announces &#8216;Days of Thunder&#8217; sequel with Anne Hathaway"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tom Cruise is set to film a sequel to his 1990 NASCAR hit \u201cDays of Thunder\u201d with Anne Hathaway, both actors announced in a video <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DcoaubOBSlX\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=embed_video_watch_again\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">posted Saturday on social media<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The Paramount Pictures movie with Cruise reprising his role as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle and Hathaway playing a team owner and engineer will be filmed in Imax and is expected to be released in the summer of 2028. <\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Levine, whose credits include \u201cWarm Bodies\u201d and \u201cLong Shot,\u201d is directing, and Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper are producing along with Cruise.<\/p>\n<p>The original film, which earned $157.9 million worldwide at the box office, was directed by the late Tony Scott and starred Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, Cary Elwes and John C. Reilly as well as  Nicole Kidman, who met Cruise during filming in 1989.
