Roberto Jos\u00e9 Andrade Franco, an ESPN writer from El Paso, ate lunch at Langer\u2019s Deli in Los Angeles in May, according to a Facebook post<\/a> shared by the restaurant.<\/p>\n \u201cRoberto drove home from Langer\u2019s a few weeks ago and couldn\u2019t shake one nagging question: did he leave a tip? He was pretty sure he did. Pretty sure wasn\u2019t good enough,\u201d the restaurant wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cSo he wrote to us \u2014 from El Paso \u2014 and mailed $50 in an envelope, along with every detail he could recall about the booth he sat in and the morning he came, all so we could track down his server,\u201d the restaurant added.<\/p>\n Roberto Jos\u00e9 Andrade Franco\u2019s letterCredit: Langer’s Deli\/Facebook<\/p>\n The restaurant added that the waitress received the money<\/a> and \u201cwas floored.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cRoberto, thank you for going out of your way to do the right thing when nobody would have known otherwise. Your table\u2019s always ready here,\u201d the restaurant said.<\/p>\n In the letter, which the restaurant included in their post, Andrade Franco shared that he and his friends got in a back and forth over who would pay for the meal when the check arrived, and that \u201cin all that talk and math confusion, and saying our goodbyes\u201d he could not be sure he left a tip.<\/p>\n The sports writer added he just couldn\u2019t let the worry go \u2014 especially because he knew first hand how much those working in the service industry rely on tips.<\/p>\n \u201cMy first job was as a bus boy and waiter, and my sister also worked as a waiter for years<\/a>,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI recognize how important these tips are to workers.
