A local supermarket was left with a large mess to clean up after it was looted following a street takeover in the Florence neighborhood of South Los Angeles early Sunday. <\/p>\n
According to police, a group of about 20 people entered the Superior grocery store after smashing a window. <\/p>\n
Video footage shows merchandise and food items thrown across the floor of the store. Shelves were ransacked and many of the store’s alcohol bottles were taken. <\/p>\n
Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department said it all began between 4:30 and 5 a.m. when over 50 vehicles shut down the intersection for a street takeover on Manchester Avenue and San Pedro Street. <\/p>\n
Three employees who were inside the store at the time of the incident called police to report a burglary. <\/p>\n
The employees then hid on the second floor of the building while the group of men and women stole merchandise and ran off. <\/p>\n
No injuries were reported. At the moment, one person is in custody. <\/p>\n
