{"id":448637,"date":"2026-08-31T06:24:50","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T06:24:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/448637\/"},"modified":"2026-08-31T06:24:50","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T06:24:50","slug":"toddler-drowns-in-pool-at-north-clovis-home-cops-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/448637\/","title":{"rendered":"Toddler drowns in pool at north Clovis home, cops say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A toddler who drowned in a pool at a north Clovis home about a month ago was recently identified to local media, the Fresno County Coroner\u2019s Office confirmed to The Bee.<\/p>\n<p>Family called 911 about 8 p.m. July 26 to report a child drowning in a pool on Serena Avenue near Shepherd and DeWolf avenues, according to Ty Wood, the Clovis police spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency responders were sent to the home and attempted life-saving efforts, but the toddler later was pronounced dead at a  local hospital, Wood told The Bee on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The boy was identified as 2-year-old Haze Brown, the Fresno County Coroner\u2019s Office confirmed Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Clovis police shared some safety protocols around swimming:<\/p>\n<p>Never let children swim alone, regardless of their swimming ability.Know CPR.Always have safety and rescue equipment nearby and readily available.Swim sober.Do not swim alone.<\/p>\n<p>Family of the 2-year-old put together a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/support-for-the-brown-family-after-tragedy\">fundraiser on GoFundMe<\/a>, which had raised $101,650 from 939 donations through Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Brown family has experienced an unimaginable loss. Courtesy of GoFundMe.com\/Support for the Brown Family After Tragedy                                                                                        Details on the incident not released immediately<\/p>\n<p>Clovis police did not find any suspicion evidence or circumstances, determining the drowning to be a tragic accident and nothing criminal, according to Wood.<\/p>\n<p>He noted the non-criminal circumstances and said the drowning that late on a Sunday night did not draw media to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did not proactively put it out,\u201d he said. \u201cThere was no benefit to the community to inform them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was later contacted by <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/former-byu-football-star-curtis-brown-son-2-drowns-in-pool-12031072\">People Magazine<\/a> and other national outlets, he said.
