{"id":449741,"date":"2026-09-01T08:02:30","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T08:02:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/449741\/"},"modified":"2026-09-01T08:02:30","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T08:02:30","slug":"oakland-county-man-accused-of-living-with-wifes-corpse-pleads-to-charge-the-oakland-press","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/449741\/","title":{"rendered":"Oakland County man accused of living with wife\u2019s corpse pleads to charge \u2013 The Oakland Press"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Bloomfield Township man who reportedly lived with his wife\u2019s decomposing body has opted out of trial by pleading to a criminal charge.<\/p>\n<p>At a recent hearing in Oakland County Circuit Court, Dirk-Peter Grunewald, 54, pleaded no contest for concealing the death of an individual \u2014 Ariane Grunewald Bluem. Bloomfield Township police said they found her body on a coach in the couple\u2019s home on Hedgewood Drive on Sept. 27, 2025. Bluem had been dead for an extensive period of time and was \u201cseverely decomposed,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p>Grunewald\u2019s court file lists the date of offense as Aug. 1, 2025.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"mugshot\" width=\"251\" height=\"314\" data- src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/TOP-L-psychevalcorpse1014.jpg\" data-attachment-id=\"1694716\" \/>Dirk-Peter Grunewald booking photo<\/p>\n<p>Officers had been called to the home to conduct a welfare check when they discovered the corpse. After finding the body, police reportedly located Grunewald in an upstairs bedroom of the home.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the cognition of the body, the Oakland County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office said the cause and manner of Bluem\u2019s death were both \u201cindeterminate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Grunewald\u2019s trial had been scheduled to start on Oct. 5. He\u2019s to be sentenced on Oct. 22 by Judge Martha Anderson.<\/p>\n<p>A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes.
