The former Bed Bath & Beyond in Fresno has been sitting empty since the store closed in 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, that building \u2014 next to Ross and Sprouts at Blackstone and El Paso avenues \u2014 has a new tenant. And it’s not a retailer.<\/p>\n

It’s Slick City Action Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That’s an indoor slide park that “delivers the exhilarating speed and sensation of a waterslide \u2014 without the water,” according to the company’s website.<\/p>\n

Slick City announced it was coming<\/a> to the 36,725-square-foot building on LinkedIn.com. The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment, including when it might open.<\/p>\n

An opening is likely many months away, as a worker confirmed the work inside the building is still in the demolition phase. Construction of the slides has yet to start.<\/p>\n

What is Slick City?<\/p>\n

It’s a national indoor entertainment park specializing in multi-story slides.<\/p>\n

There’s the Corkscrew, which sends riders spinning through curling curves. And then there’s the Riptide, the company’s steepest slide yet.<\/p>\n

Riders lay on mats, usually head first, and land softly on padded surfaces. Some slides send riders soaring through the air into airbags.<\/p>\n

There are slides for children 5 and under, swing and trapeze equipment, an air court where people can play basketball on a bouncy surface allowing them to dunk balls and more.<\/p>\n

Slick City has 44 locations open nationwide, with another 45 locations under construction.<\/p>\n

The next closest are in Ontario and Oceanside, California. At Oceanside, an 120-minute session for adults costs $42.99.<\/p>\n

The indoor slide park is the latest evolution of indoor entertainment parks, which saw big empty buildings turned play places in Fresno, including Sky Zone Trampoline Park<\/a> in Clovis, and Aerozone Trampoline Park<\/a> and Syctron Freeplay Arena<\/a> in Fresno.<\/p>\n

All are air-conditioned and host birthday parties and other events.<\/p>\n
