(Courtesy: Fresno Police Department)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Fresno Police Department says officers responded around 6:07 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, to a crash near Shields and Fowler Avenues, with the driving leaving the scene. <\/p>\n<p>Officers later located the suspect vehicle traveling west on Highway 180.<\/p>\n<p>Police helicopter AIR1 followed the vehicle from above and reported seeing it speeding, driving on the shoulder, tailgating and sideswiping another vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The driver eventually crashed into a guardrail near the Blackstone and Abby Avenue exit. <\/p>\n<p>[RELATED] <a href=\"https:\/\/kmph.com\/news\/local\/disoriented-driver-crashes-into-pd-chaplain-vehicle-before-hitting-red-carpet-equipment-car-wash-fresno-police-department-evaluated\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Disoriented driver crashes into PD Chaplain vehicle before hitting Red Carpet equipment<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Police say a juvenile passenger got out and ran to an officer for help. <\/p>\n<p>That child had visible head injuries, while a second juvenile reported pain from the crash.<\/p>\n<p>The driver, identified as 41-year-old Brooke Smith, showed signs of impairment.<\/p>\n<p>Smith was arrested on suspicion of DUI involving drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, hit-and-run and felony child endangerment and booked into the Fresno County Jail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO, Calif.
