Three people were hurt, including two who needed to be hospitalized, they said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police soon spotted the suspected shooter about three miles away near Burnett Street and Pacific Avenue, but he drove off, and officers gave chase, according to the LBPD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He fired at police while they pursued him along the 710 Freeway, and at least one officer shot back, the department said in a statement. Nobody was hit by the gunfire, and the fleeing driver eventually crashed into a pole in downtown Los Angeles, police said. He was hurt in the crash and hospitalized as a result, they added.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2085\" height=\"1871\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/20260901-recovered-ois-firearm-630200-zhn4uhft-240509-NRM1YHog.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-186273\"  \/>Police released this photo of a gun they said was recovered after the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police were still investigating Tuesday morning and, for a while, had all lanes of the northbound 710 shut down at Willow Street.
