(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 The Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI\/Driver\u2019s License Checkpoint, in conjunction with a large-scale DUI Saturation Patrol, on Friday, September 4th.<\/p>\n<p>Police said it will be held at an undisclosed location within the city limits, between 6:30 p.m. and 2 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and\/or drug impairment, with officers checking drivers for proper licensing while delaying motorists only momentarily.<\/p>\n<p>SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/chp-launches-statewide-labor-day-holiday-enforcement-period-to-target-impaired-driving-california-highway-patrol\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CHP launches statewide Labor Day Holiday Enforcement Period to target impaired driving<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Police said when possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving, including not only illegal narcotics, but many prescription drugs, marijuana, and even some over-the-counter medications.<\/p>\n<p>Bakersfield police said DUI Checkpoints are placed in locations based on crash statistics and frequency of DUI arrests. Locations are chosen with safety considerations for the officers and the public.<\/p>\n<p>Drivers caught while driving impaired can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes, and other expenses that could exceed $10,000, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
