Labor Day weekend travel forecast for California brings sunshine north and rough surf at the coast<\/p>\n

Traveling across the Golden State for the Labor Day Weekend looks pleasant for most. <\/p>\n

Northern California will be turning sunny after a few rounds of showers on Thursday. Skies clear out on Friday and look mostly sunny for the remainder of the holiday weekend. <\/p>\n

Temperatures across the region will run warmer, but afternoons will stay mild by September standards. Valley highs will be in the mid to upper 80s through Monday. The Foothills will see highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. The Sierra will be pleasant with chilly mornings and mild afternoons. <\/p>\n

If your holiday weekend plans take you into Southern California, there will be periods of unsettled weather as remnant tropical moisture moves through late weekend. <\/p>\n

Plan for areas around Los Angeles and San Diego to have morning fog and afternoon sun Saturday and for much of Sunday. Scattered showers are possible Sunday into Monday as a little bit of tropical moisture gets pulled inland. Rain amounts will be light and flooding is not a concern but the air will feel muggy as showers move through. <\/p>\n

Rough surf, rip current risk<\/p>\n

Rough surf, rip currents and the increased risk for sneaker waves will be present at many California beaches this weekend. <\/p>\n

A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect from southern Humboldt County through the Monterey area Friday through Labor Day. <\/p>\n

Rip currents and large breaking waves are also expected from San Luis Obispo County beaches through the San Diego area. <\/p>\n

Be aware of your surroundings if you’re heading to the beach this weekend and always swim near a lifeguard.<\/p>\n
