{"id":453065,"date":"2026-09-04T06:56:37","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T06:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/453065\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T06:56:37","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T06:56:37","slug":"anaheim-angels-sold-to-stan-kroenke-in-3-billion-mlb-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/453065\/","title":{"rendered":"Anaheim Angels Sold to Stan Kroenke in $3 Billion MLB Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAnother southern California <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sports\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sports_2\" data-tag=\"sports\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sports<\/a> team is being sold, with the Los Angeles Angels set to sell a majority stake to real estate and sports mogul Stan Kroenke, the team said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tKroenke will buy the Angeles from Arte Moreno in a deal valued at more than $3.9 billion, per ESPN, a price consistent with the sale of the San Diego Padres earlier this year. Moreno, of course, purchased the Angeles from The Walt Disney Co. in 2003 for less than $200 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tKroenke, a real estate magnate, has become one of the biggest owners in all of sports. He moved the NFL\u2019s Rams back to Los Angeles, where he developed the SoFi Stadium complex where they play. He also owns the NBA\u2019s Denver Nuggets, the NHL\u2019s Colorado Avalanche, the Colorado Rapids of MLS and Arsenal F.C. of the U.K.\u2019s Premier League. The Angels will give his holding company teams in every major U.S. sports league, and in a prime southern California market no less (even if the Angeles are second fiddle to the Los Angeles Dodgers).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThe Angels are a storied franchise anchored in a great market,\u201d Kroenke said in a statement. \u201cWe look forward to an exciting future with the Angels organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThe Angels organization is pleased to announce this transaction with Kroenke Sports &amp; Entertainment,\u201d Moreno added. \u201cThe Moreno family has been honored to steward the Angels for 23 years and we believe with KSE\u2019s experience and success they are the best next owner for the franchise. The Angels organization looks forward to continuing its commitment to the fans, our employees, the players and our business partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tKroenke\u2019s deal for the Angels comes just weeks after L.A.\u2019s flagship NBA team, the Lakers, sold to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner in a record-breaking<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/lakers-to-be-sold-to-bob-iger-and-joshua-kushners-firm-1236672013\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> $12.5 billion deal<\/a>.
