Coastal Flooding is possible especially for vulnerable south-facing coasts. Always swim near a lifeguard, Stay off rocks and Jetties. Heed advice from Local officials.<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/CAwx?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">#CAwx<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/e0vabebXMQ\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/e0vabebXMQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NWS Los Angeles (@NWSLosAngeles) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NWSLosAngeles\/status\/2095619110973424057?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">September 3, 2026<\/a>      Humidity<\/p>\n<p>The storm is expected to <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2026-08-28\/forget-florida-la-humidity-is-off-charts-this-summer-whats-going-on\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bring back that muggy weather California experienced late last month<\/a>, with humidity levels ranging from 35% to 50% over the weekend and temperatures in the mid-80s along the coast.<\/p>\n<p>Rain<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also a chance of light rain, measuring up to a quarter of an inch, arriving by Sunday across the region, and a 5% to 10% chance of thunderstorms, according to the weather service.<\/p>\n<p>Flooding risk<\/p>\n<p>The south swell is also coinciding with a period of evening high tides, which could result in an \u201cincreasing chance of moderate coastal flooding\u201d in low-lying areas including Avalon, the Alamitos Peninsula in Long Beach, Malibu and Point Mugu, according to the weather service.<\/p>\n<p>Guidance<\/p>\n<p>Officials say Hurricane Marie will never get close to the California coast. The closest the storm\u2019s core will get to Los Angeles is 800 miles away. So the storm does not necessarily mean people will have to change weekend plans. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTemperatures will not be overly warm, but it\u2019s a holiday weekend and a warm time of year, so we\u2019re expecting a lot of people are planning beach trips and family events.
