PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG\/WECP) – Visitors and locals alike are finding their own slice of heaven this Labor Day weekend as Margaritaville Beach Cottage Resort kicks off its third annual celebration of Jimmy Buffett\u2019s life and legacy.<\/p>\n
The multi-day tribute honors the late singer\u2019s music, carefree lifestyle, and passion for philanthropy. Margaritaville officials say finding ways to give back was a central mission for Buffett, and this weekend is no exception. All proceeds raised from the events will go directly to support the United Way of Northwest Florida.<\/p>\n
The festivities began Friday morning with a special community focus, as resort staff served breakfast to local first responders to thank them for their service.<\/p>\n
For resort guests, the weekend is packed with high-energy activities. Earlier today, visitors participated in a massive beach ball drop, tie-dye creation stations, and a family-friendly foam party.<\/p>\n
Katie O\u2019Connor, the resort\u2019s Marketing Director, explained that keeping Buffett\u2019s charitable spirit alive is at the heart of the celebration. <\/p>\n
\u201cJimmy believed in fostering a responsibility and a well-being of our community, and he truly exemplified that in every way with his inception of Singing For Change and everything else that he did, so this was our way of honoring him.\u201d <\/p>\n
The tropical atmosphere has drawn visitors from all over, creating an infectious community spirit.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe vibe has been exceptional,\u201d said resort visitor Delee Scott. \u201cIt\u2019s a lost shaker of salt, and we\u2019re all here for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The fun is not just limited to those staying overnight. Residents can join the festivities by purchasing a local resort pass to access all events through the holiday weekend.<\/p>\n
