<\/a>SACRAMENTO, Calif. \u2014<\/p>\nLiCAP Technologies, a Sacramento-based clean energy technology company, is developing advanced ultracapacitors that charge and release energy faster than batteries, with a patented process that reduces environmental impact. <\/p>\n
“We believe that Sacramento is a hub for clean technology in the region,” said Richard Qiu, president of LiCAP Technologies. <\/p>\n
Richard Qiu said the company recently announced its new rack level ultracapacitor energy storage system which is engineered for the high-power and fast-response demands of AI data centers. <\/p>\n
LiCAP\u2019s patented a process called “activated dry electrode technology” to create ultracapacitors while most of the industry uses a wet coating process that’s more harmful to the environment according to the company.<\/p>\n
“It’s a major environmental impact to remove that chemical from the process,” said Eric Fodge.<\/p>\n
Fodge added, “Doing something that can literally impact everyone on the planet is very rewarding.” <\/p>\n
The company, which employs nearly 50 people, plans to triple the size of its facility and hire more workers in the Sacramento region. <\/p>\n
“Our belief is not only are we making interesting technology, but also we want to make sure we’re building resources that help the local community…to do this all together,” Qiu said. <\/p>\n
