{"id":454083,"date":"2026-09-05T03:48:18","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T03:48:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/454083\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T03:48:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T03:48:18","slug":"bicyclist-hit-and-killed-by-driver-in-san-jose-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/454083\/","title":{"rendered":"Bicyclist hit and killed by driver in San Jose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN JOSE \u2014 A driver hit and killed a bicyclist Friday morning in San Jose, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The collision happened around 4:20 a.m. at the intersection of North First Street and Trimble Road, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>The bicyclist, a man, died from his injuries at the scene. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner\u2019s Office will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation revealed the bicyclist was traveling northbound on North First Street in a crosswalk when he was hit by a gray 2004 Toyota Corolla traveling westbound on Trimble Road, according to Shih. The driver, a man, had a green light.<\/p>\n<p>Shih said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. She added that police do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the deadly crash.<\/p>\n<p>The incident marked the city\u2019s 33rd traffic fatality of 2026.
