Tulum Tacos & Tequila, which plans to open its third Long Island restaurant this month, has opened a\u00a0bar pop-up ahead of the\u00a0opening of\u00a0the eatery\u00a0at The Boardwalk<\/a> in\u00a0Long Beach.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

The chain\u2019s Long Beach restaurant, called Hacienda Tulum, is expected to open in the next couple of weeks in a 5,800-square-foot space\u00a0as part of the 14,700-square-foot retail<\/a> portion of B2K Development\u2019s\u00a0The Breeze<\/a>, the 10-story, 238-unit apartment building at 180 Boardwalk\u00a0and\u00a0192 condominium residences in two nine-story towers called The Boardwalk.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Hacienda Tulum in Long Beach will be the Tulum chain\u2019s third Long Island restaurant, following others in Mineola and Baldwin. Its Long Beach pop-up, which offers an early taste of Hacienda Tulum\u2019s food and beverage program, will continue until\u00a0the 200-seat\u00a0Hacienda Tulum opens around mid-September, according to a company statement.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

For owners and longtime friends Nicolas Geeraerts and Tommy Mitsios, the opportunity to open directly on the water was a major factor in choosing Long Beach for the brand\u2019s third location.\u00a0Geeraerts, who brings decades of restaurant experience after working with\u00a0such hospitality standouts as\u00a0Patina Group, Jean-Georges, Todd English, Delmonico\u2019s Restaurant Group, and JF Restaurants, said the Long Beach community is\u00a0amazing.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0a whole different level than anywhere else,\u201d\u00a0Geeraerts said in the statement.\u00a0\u201cI get goosebumps just thinking about it. For us to be a part of it,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0super excited.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hacienda Tulum, which will\u00a0serve lunch, brunch, and dinner year-round,\u00a0will\u00a0have\u00a0indoor and outdoor seating\u00a0overlooking\u00a0the ocean, as well as a 24-seat private dining room.\u00a0Guests will also have access to a private 100-space parking garage with an elevator providing direct access to the restaurant, along with planned valet service.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Tulum is the largest\u00a0commercial\u00a0tenant to take space at\u00a0B2K\u2019s\u00a0Long Beach\u00a0development.\u00a0It joins\u00a0the 2,350-square-foot\u00a0Mount Sinai South Nassau\u00a0walk-in primary care clinic; the 2,150-square-foot\u00a0Surf Haus, with spa services that include saunas, a cryo-chamber and IV drips;\u00a0the 2,100-square-foot\u00a0YogaSix\u00a0studio; the 1,190-square-foot Barrier Beets salad and sandwich wrap shop; and a 1,130-square-foot coffee shop.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we first proposed development of The Breeze, and our adjacent luxury condominium, The Boardwalk, we also envisioned an exciting and unique array of retail properties that would welcome those walking the legendary Long Beach boardwalk,\u201d David Burman, a B2K partner, said about the project\u2019s commercial tenants. \u201cWith the arrival of Tulum Tacos & Tequilas\u2019 new concept, and so many others, there is now an exciting and varied offering that fulfills that vision.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

The $369 million Long Beach project from Jericho-based B2K and its partner Harrison Street Real Estate Capital has transformed the long-vacant 6-acre property known as the\u00a0Superblock, which had a checkered history of blighted properties and failed development proposals.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
