A jury on Wednesday found a woman guilty of first-degree murder in the 2018 shooting death of a man killed in Sacramento as part of a revenge plot<\/a>, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

Julisha Octavia Douglas, 47, of Sacramento was convicted of murder in the shooting of 60-year-old Michael Craig, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office<\/a> announced in a news release. The conviction also included an enhancement for using a gun in the murder.<\/p>\n

The deadly shooting was reported<\/a> shortly before 9 p.m. Jan. 15, 2018, in the 3500 block of 44th Street in Sacramento’s Central Oak Park neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Sacramento police said officers arrived and found a wounded man, later identified as Craig. Officers and medics tried to revive Craig, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

About a month after Craig’s death, police homicide detectives released security camera video<\/a> of a suspect in the Oak Park fatal shooting. The video shows the suspect get out of dark-colored car, walk across the street to the driver’s side window of another car and then jog back to the dark-colored car before driving away quickly.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said someone recognized Douglas as the shooting suspect in the video and told investigators Douglas may have been seeking revenge. The tipster told investigators that Douglas believed Craig was involved in her father’s death.<\/p>\n

Investigators found social media posts from Douglas stating she wanted revenge for her father’s death, according to the District Attorney’s Office.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said investigators found evidence that showed Douglas was in the area at the time of the homicide, and Douglas’ vehicle was similar to the vehicle in the security camera video.<\/p>\n

Craig was sitting in his car when he and Douglas got into a verbal exchange, then she shot Craig in the head, according to the DA’s Office. Prosecutors alleged in the criminal complaint that Douglas used a 9mm handgun to kill Craig.<\/p>\n

Douglas was arrested and booked Feb. 24, 2018, at the Sacramento County Main Jail. Since then, she has remained there in custody.<\/p>\n

She is scheduled to return for her sentencing hearing on Nov. 20 in Sacramento Superior Court.<\/p>\n

Douglas has an April 2000 conviction of assault with a firearm and firing a gun at an inhabited dwelling, which are considered strikes under California’s “Three Strikes” law.
