Several events are expected to bring thousands of people to the Central City during Labor Day weekend.<\/p>\n
Our Street Night Market<\/a> will take place Sept. 5 along R Street, Chalk It Up!<\/a> returns to Fremont Park Sept. 5\u20137, and the Sacramento Rainbow Festival<\/a> will be held on Sept. 6 in Lavender Heights.<\/p>\n With increased activity expected throughout Sacramento, the City\u2019s Office of Nighttime Economy encourages attendees to plan ahead and take a few simple steps to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.<\/p>\n City public safety teams will also be present throughout downtown during the holiday weekend to support residents, businesses and visitors. This coordinated effort reflects the City\u2019s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a great weekend to experience Sacramento, with several signature events bringing people together across the Central City,\u201d said City Nighttime Economy Manager Tina Lee-Vogt. \u201cWe encourage folks to prepare, come out, enjoy the events, and look out for one another so everyone can have a safe and positive experience.\u201d<\/p>\n Here are five tips before heading out:<\/p>\n 1. Know your event<\/p>\n Check the event website and social media accounts before leaving for updated information on hours, tickets, entrances and policies. 2. Know your transportation plans<\/p>\n Expect increased pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle traffic and allow extra time to reach your destination. 3. Know before you park<\/p>\n Check parking options and temporary street restrictions before arriving. 4. Know your limits<\/p>\n Drink responsibly and stay hydrated throughout the day. 5. Look out for yourself and others<\/p>\n Stay aware of your surroundings and keep track of the people in your group.
