San Francisco renters are once again asking: How much?<\/a>!<\/p>\n

A one-bedroom apartment in the ritzy Pacific Heights neighborhood has sparked a firestorm online after being teased for a jaw-dropping $5,495 a month \u2014 despite what commenters described as a dated kitchen, dingy carpet and a small patio.<\/p>\n

Real estate agent Thomas Baboin posted about the upcoming listing<\/a> for the apartment at 2321 Scott St., pitching it as an \u201cSF Icon\u201d in \u201cPrime Pac Heights.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c$5,500 for something that hasn\u2019t been updated since \u2018Guess who\u2019s coming to Dinner?\u2019 With a prison cell patio?!\u201d one commenter wrote.<\/p>\n

Another added: \u201cAlmost $6k and no in-unit laundry? These landlords are literal demons.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDiabolical with that carpet,\u201d one commenter wrote, while another called it a \u201cCARPETED DUNEGON FROM THE EARLY 90s AND NO WINDOWS FOR NEARLY 6 GRAND?!!!? WHACKKK.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others questioned who could possibly afford the place. \u201c1 bedroom and 5k\u2026 read that again,\u201d one person wrote. \u201cThis is what a mortgage cost on a $1 million house,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n

One Pacific Heights resident claimed their own one-bedroom costs less than $4,000 and comes with 700 square feet and Bay views.<\/p>\n

\u201cI live in PAC Heights in a one bedroom and can tell you that this looks like a 70s renovation with old carpets.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy place is not even $4,000 and it has views of the bay and 700 sq ft. This is a terrible price and I feel bad for anyone forced to be paying this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The listing\u2019s comment section quickly piled up with dozens of reactions, ranging from disbelief to outright fury.<\/p>\n

The sticker shock comes as San Francisco continues to grapple with some of the nation\u2019s most punishing housing costs.<\/p>\n

A recent Zumper analysis found the median one-bedroom rent in the city had climbed to more than $4,000, with limited housing supply and the booming tech sector helping fuel prices.<\/p>\n

And apparently, $4,000 is just the starting point.<\/p>\n
