The Lions held their own for over an hour before a 68th minute penalty kick goal from CBU jump-started a three-goal game for the Lancers. Senior captains Lilly Ford<\/a> and Adelyn Speight<\/a> logged a full 90 minutes alongside senior goalkeeper Emily Dorfman<\/a>. This was the first game of the season that the Lions were held scoreless. It was also the first time in program history North Alabama has traveled to California to play soccer.\u00a0<\/p>\n SERIES HISTORY: This will be the first meeting between the North Alabama Lions and the UC San Diego Tritons in program history.\u00a0<\/p>\n SCOUTING THE TRITONS: The UC San Diego Tritons hold a current record of 3-2-1 with wins over Utah Tech (4-2), UNLV (2-1), and Pacific (2-0). The Tritons’ two losses have come from their first game of the season against San Diego State (2-0) and their most recent game on Thursday night against Boise State (1-0). The Tritons were predicted to finish ninth out of 12 teams in the Big West Preseason Coaches’ Poll announced on August 5. UC San Diego has scored eight goals in six games this season with five different goal scorers, but they have also given up six goals in six games to opponents.\u00a0<\/p>\n CALIFORNIA LIONS: The two-game slate in California against both CBU and UCSD marks the first time in program history that North Alabama has traveled to California and played against a California-based team.\u00a0<\/p>\n NEXT GAME: North Alabama Soccer returns home to host the Chattanooga Mocs on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at Cox Creek Sports Complex. \u00a0<\/p>\n
