{"id":454777,"date":"2026-09-05T19:34:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T19:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/454777\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T19:34:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T19:34:08","slug":"woman-dies-from-injuries-suffered-during-alleged-attack-by-ex-boyfriend-in-poway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/454777\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman dies from injuries suffered during alleged attack by ex-boyfriend in Poway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 43-year-old woman who was in critical condition for weeks following an alleged attack in Poway by her ex-boyfriend has died, sheriff\u2019s officials said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Azucena Gonzalez Martinez died at a hospital <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegouniontribune.com\/2026\/08\/20\/man-wanted-in-connection-with-attempted-slaying-of-ex-girlfriend-in-poway\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">three weeks<\/a> after she was found suffering from traumatic injuries caused by a deadly weapon at a home on Brighton Avenue near Adrian Street on Aug. 11, sheriff Lt. Juan Marquez said.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators believe the woman\u2019s ex-boyfriend Jeronimo Cedillo, 38, forced his way into the home around 3 a.m. and attacked Martinez, investigators said.<\/p>\n<p>He then fled the scene and his ex-girlfriend was taken to a hospital, where she died.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff\u2019s officials said they believe Cedillo is known to frequent Los Angeles County, San Diego County and Mexico.
