And then I yanked it again, and I told her to let go of me. And she\u00a0didn\u2019t, so I hit her,\u201d Chocoteco <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kget.com\/news\/local-news\/bakersfield-high-school-student-suffers-severe-burns-injuries-after-incident-with-campus-staff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">told KGET 17 News.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bakersfield High School student Bridgette Chocoteco says campus security pinned her to a scorching metal plate on Aug. 25. Facebook\/@kristian.chocoteco.2025<\/p>\n<p>The 14-year-old sustained third-degree to her stomach and thigh.<\/p>\n<p>The metal plate had \u2018electric high voltage\u2019 engraved on it.  GoFundMe<\/p>\n<p>After she hit the teacher, school security quickly jumped in and tackled her on to a metal plate in open space, which had been under the hot sun all day in Kern County\u2019s 100-degree weather.<\/p>\n<p>The metal plate had \u2018electric high voltage\u2019 engraved on it, reported the news outlet. \u201cI know my actions\u00a0weren\u2019t\u00a0right, but that\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0excuse\u00a0theirs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they\u00a0would have just gave\u00a0me a second to calm down, this wouldn\u2019t\u00a0have happened. I\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0have put my hands on anybody. They\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0have to touch me,\u201d the teen said.<\/p>\n<p>She was on the metal plate for around two minutes and her exposed skin sustained severe burns.<\/p>\n<p>After the incident, the 14-year-old had blood on her face, blisters across her\u00a0stomach and massive burns on her\u00a0thighs. GoFundMe<\/p>\n<p>Bridgette Chocoteco is currently receiving burn treatments at a Fresno hospital.  GoFundMe<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was screaming that I was burning and they just kind of\u00a0held\u00a0me even harder. One of them said that\u2019s\u00a0what I\u00a0get,\u201d Chocoteco said.<\/p>\n<p>When her mother, Kristian Chocoteco arrived at the hospital, she expected bumps or bruises. Bakersfield High School hadn\u2019t mentioned the extent of her daughter\u2019s injuries, but the wet towels laid over the teenager hinted at something far worse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought maybe she was bleeding. Then she saw the severe third-degree burns across her daughter\u2019s stomach and thigh. It was just disgusting\u2014how they did her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in shock.
