They were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">They have not been identified as of Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">First responders arrived to find a fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft that had crashed off the runway in the river-bottom area of the San Joaquin River.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It remains unclear whether the plane was arriving at or departing from the airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In an update Sunday, sheriff&#8217;s office spokesperson Tony Botti said it&#8217;s likely the plane was departing Sierra Sky Park. He said it&#8217;s not clear how long they had been in the air or their destination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He added that the two adults were found outside the plane.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A nearby resident, who asked not to be identified, said he did not hear the crash itself.
