Update 9\/6\/2026 3:53 p.m.: The Sacramento State Police Department reported no correlation between the gunshot victims calls at Cucamonga Avenue and Ramona Avenue and at Folsom Blvd and State University Drive and the gun shots at Parking Structure III.<\/p>\n

Sacramento State Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in Parking Structure III at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Students received an emergency alert from Sac State PD<\/a> at 7:35 p.m. Saturday night that said, \u201cDangerous situation! Shots fired. Police responded. Avoid Parking Structure 3. Stadium shelter in place until all clear is given.\u201d<\/p>\n

Students also received the alert via text and phone call.<\/p>\n

At 8:12 p.m., students received another email from Sac State PD stating that the shelter-in-place was lifted and there were no ongoing injuries or threats.<\/p>\n

Saturday night marked the first home football game for Sac State at Hornet Stadium, where the Hornets beat the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils, 52\u20130. The game was the team\u2019s home FBS debut, with 18,523 fans in attendance. It was the largest season opening crowd and the fifth-largest overall in program history. <\/a><\/p>\n

Hornet Stadium remained open and the game continued as scheduled with guests being asked to avoid Parking Structure III as Sac State PD investigated.<\/p>\n

Later, around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday at Granite Regional Park near Cucamonga Avenue and Ramona Avenue, Sacramento Police Department responded to a call and found three adult women with gunshot wounds, according to a press release by Sacramento PD.<\/p>\n

One victim was treated on the scene for minor injuries and two were transported to a hospital to receive treatment for non-threatening injuries, according to a press release by Sacramento PD.<\/p>\n

According to the press release by Sacramento PD, shortly after finding the three women, officers responded to a related vehicle collision near Folsom Blvd and University Dr. At the scene an adult male victim with at least one gunshot wound was located by the officers and transported to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

Sacramento PD could not confirm whether or not the victims were connected to the reported shots fired at Sac State.<\/p>\n

Suspects were temporarily detained on Saturday, but they were determined to have no involvement and were later released, according to Sacramento PD. Sac State PD is still currently investigating the shots fired from Saturday.<\/p>\n
