The Outlets at Orange<\/a> is getting a multimillion-dollar makeover that\u2019s adding retailers and updating its overall aesthetic.<\/p>\n

Simon, the mall\u2019s manager and co-owner with the German KanAm Group, said work on the renovation begins this fall. The outdoor mall will remain open throughout the renovations, which should wrap up by late 2027.<\/p>\n

The mall operator declined to specify exactly how much it was spending to renovate the 28-year-old retail center.<\/p>\n

New retailers coming include Coach, along with its own coffee shop and patio, plus Michael Kors. Some of the newer additions at The Outlets at Orange include Barnes & Noble, Vans and Skechers.<\/p>\n

The renovation work, according to Simon, includes:<\/p>\n

\u2014Upgraded flooring, new seating areas, refreshed signage, added shade structures and updated lighting throughout the center.<\/p>\n

\u2014Simon is redesigning common areas, the landscaping and entrances. The entire exterior will get a new coat of paint, and new green space.<\/p>\n

The mall, which opened in 1998 as the Block at Orange, features 120 stores and eateries, plus Lucky Strike, Dave & Buster\u2019s and an AMC 30 movie theatre.<\/p>\n

Notably, Simon has been updating and expanding two other Orange County malls. The Brea Mall<\/a> and The Shops at Mission Viejo<\/a> are getting multimillion-dollar additions and updates that are adding restaurants and stores to their footprint.<\/p>\n

\nNew retailers join LAB Anti-Mall<\/p>\n

Two Orange County-born companies have opened at The LAB Anti-Mall<\/a> in Costa Mesa.<\/p>\n

SAD (Sight And Design Co.) Eyewear opened its first brick and mortar flagship store on Aug. 21.<\/p>\n

SAD makes sunglasses in \u201cart-driven collaborations\u201d that incorporate recycled and bio-based materials.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve always approached eyewear as an extension of the individual rather than an accessory \u2013 creating pieces with strong personal ties that stay connected to the people and subcultures that have shaped the brand,\u201d said Kiefer Cohen, an Orange County native and founder of SAD Eyewear. \u201cSAD grew out of the local DIY creative culture, with roots in skateboarding, graffiti, independent athletic endeavors, alt music scenes and the communities surrounding them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Founded in 2018 in Costa Mesa, the brand is carried in some 120 retail locations worldwide.<\/p>\n

Landers Supply House, another Costa Mesa-based fashion brand that sells vintage denim and cowboy boots, has relocated its store to The LAB Anti-Mall.<\/p>\n

After nearly 10 years at 2139 Harbor Blvd., Landers took over part of the former Urban Outfitters space.<\/p>\n

The brand features workwear, Western, collegiate, moto and military looks. Doors at The LAB opened Aug. 29.<\/p>\n

\u201cLanders has always been about more than just retail \u2014 it\u2019s about connection, craftsmanship, and creating a space people want to spend time,\u201d said Kim Owen, owner of Landers Supply House. \u201cMoving our store to The LAB is a natural fit. \nChamber seeks more eateries for Orange Restaurant Week<\/p>\n

The Orange Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau<\/a> has its eyes on the city\u2019s first restaurant week, and it needs more businesses to sign up.<\/p>\n

The Orange Chamber Restaurant Week<\/a>, which can also include Villa Park restaurants, is slated for Oct. 17-26 and so far, features a slim list of committed eateries.<\/p>\n

So far, participating restaurants include Cafe Zocalo, Rutabegorz, Bagel Me!, Green Cheek Beer and The Peel (inside Hotel FERA).<\/p>\n

\u201cOrange and Villa Park have an incredible restaurant community, from longtime neighborhood favorites to exciting new concepts,\u201d said Pattie Cordova, chief executive of the chamber. \u201cRestaurant Week gives us an opportunity to put the spotlight on these businesses while giving residents and visitors a reason to try someplace new. Our goal is simple: get people through the doors of our local restaurants and keep those dollars circulating in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

David Lieberman Artist\u2019s Representatives in Santa Ana has officially transitioned to Moon Artists Management. The agency was acquired last year by the firm\u2019s longtime executive, Allen Moon. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. \nFestival of Children Foundation celebrated its 25th Festival of Children at South Coast Plaza on Wednesday, Sept. 2. The foundation awarded $25,000 to five local organizations or projects selected by the Orange County Board of Supervisors. Recipients of the $5,000 grants included We Care Orange County, KidWorks Community Development Corp., Pretend City Children\u2019s Museum, No Limits Creative Arts and Project3R. The foundation also awarded the KARA Award, which honors young people who are \u201cKaring And Really Achieving.\u201d The KARA went to Sophie Martin and Akshay Sherma who founded Project FairCare Health. The project, supported by the Dragon Kim Foundation, hosted four health fairs that featured free healthcare screenings, services and educational resources.
