OAKLAND COUNTY \u2013 Oakland University researchers launched a first-of-its-kind stream study last month into how Michigan manages flooding associated with beaver activity.<\/p>\n

Collaborating with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), OU researchers installed a pond leveler in Galloway Creek last month, where beavers have created a pond along Oakland University\u2019s Alice R. Champion Trail.<\/p>\n

Researchers involved in the program joined Local 4 on Friday, Sept. 4, to share more about the study and how it could help shape how Michigan manages flooding associated with beaver activity \u2014 without removing the animals or the habitat they create.<\/p>\n
