BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A 36-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing a woman in a hit-and-run crash on South Union Avenue Sunday night.<\/p>\n
The Bakersfield Police Department said on September 6, 2026, at around 7:31 p.m., officers were called to the 2500 block of South Union Avenue regarding a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from severe injuries. She was then pronounced dead by the Bakersfield Fire Department.<\/p>\n
Police said the vehicle and driver involved in the crash had left the scene before officers arrived.<\/p>\n
BPD said a preliminary investigation found that the pedestrian was crossing South Union Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a northbound-traveling suspect vehicle.<\/p>\n
Police said video footage showed that the suspect\u2019s vehicle was a white Ford pickup, which was located at a residence in the 3600 block of Cottonwood Road.<\/p>\n
Officers contacted 36-year-old Guadalupe Hernandez at the location. Police said Hernandez admitted to being the driver and sole occupant of the Ford at the time of the crash. He was arrested and booked for appropriate charges, including hit-and-run causing death.<\/p>\n
