A heat advisory has been issued for portions of the Sacramento Valley, Delta and adjacent foothills, including much of Solano County, with temperatures expected to climb well above normal Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n
The National Weather Service issued the advisory from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, through 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10. High temperatures are forecast to be 7 to 12 degrees above normal both days, with the hottest temperatures expected Thursday, the agency said in a social media post.<\/p>\n
The elevated temperatures increase the risk of heat stress and heat-related illness for people and animals, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n
Residents are advised to drink plenty of water, particularly if spending time outdoors, and take frequent breaks. The agency also recommends avoiding prolonged time in the sun between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and staying in cool or air-conditioned areas during the hottest part of the day.<\/p>\n
People who must be outside during the heat should take precautions, including drinking water regularly and limiting strenuous activity during the hottest hours. Children, older adults and people with certain health conditions can be particularly vulnerable to high temperatures.<\/p>\n
