The fiber lines do not contain copper, so they are not part of the rash of copper thefts in the city, according to the Spectrum statement. But they are part of a trend of attacks against telecommunications infrastructure across the country, Spectrum said. Last year, 18,327 attacks were reported, a 59% increase over 2024, affecting more than 11.8 million customers.

Spectrum is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information on this attack can reach Spectrum at 833-404-TIPS (8477), or contact local law enforcement.
