BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) \u2013 After initially\u00a0submitting\u00a0paperwork saying she had no financial conflicts of interest in running for the Bakersfield City Council, local\u00a0businesswoman\u00a0Cassie Bittle has quietly resubmitted disclosure forms showing a handful of her\u00a0financial interests.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bittle, who co-manages KC Steakhouse in Bakersfield and sits on the city’s planning commission for Ward 3, filed her California Form 700 \u2013 or Statement of Economic Interests form<\/a> \u2013 on Aug. 7, 2026,\u00a0stating\u00a0she had “no reportable interests.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n But on Sunday, Sept. 6, Bittle filed an amendment of the form<\/a> to the Fair Political Practices Commission listing five current economic interests in Bakersfield, including investments, “real property” and incomes, loans & business positions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0Watch 17 News, After Sunrise and more local news free on your smart TV. Click to learn more about KGET+\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n The revised form lists KC Steakhouse as a business entity Bittle is part of as a managing partner. The form\u00a0states\u00a0that the restaurant’s\u00a0fair market value\u00a0is over $1 million.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n It also lists\u00a0Steakstreet\u00a0Properties, on 2515 F St., same address as KC Steakhouse, as a real property with\u00a0a fair market value\u00a0between $100,001 and $1 million.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The form also\u00a0says Bittle owns\u00a0Stockyard\u00a0Whiskey Bar.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n In an interview with 17 News on Tuesday morning, Bittle said she has been filing the California Form 700 to the Commission for the past five years she has been on the city’s Planning Commission.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Bittle said when she went to file the form this past August for her City Council candidacy, she thought she hit a button that would auto-populate her\u00a0previous\u00a0forms into her latest filing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Because of that, she said her form was “wiped clean.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Bittle added that she\u00a0did not\u00a0know there was an issue with the form until she saw a post about it on social media.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n “I amended it very quickly,” she said. “There was no malice.”\u00a0<\/p>\n She said the Commission used to handle the filings handwritten, saying\u00a0it’s\u00a0been more difficult to fill them out since\u00a0they’ve\u00a0moved electronically.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n She said it has been more difficult to fill out the forms since the Commission moved them electronically, rather than handwritten.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n “It’s a simple mistake that I just didn’t mean to do, and I went ahead and corrected it as soon as I was informed of the issue,” she said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Bittle, a well-established\u00a0businesswoman\u00a0in the city, is running for the Bakersfield City Council for the Ward 3 seat, which will be left vacant by Ken Weir.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
