<\/p>\nA person was found dead Tuesday afternoon after deputies responded to a reported shooting on Howe Avenue in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento County, officials said.<\/p>\n
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said several calls about a shooting began coming in around 3 p.m. in the 800 block of Howe Avenue, just north of Fair Oaks Boulevard.<\/p>\n
Deputies found one person unresponsive at the scene. The sheriff’s office said medics responded and the person was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or provided information about what may have happened.<\/p>\n
Just south of the shooting scene, a vehicle stop on eastbound Highway 50 had halted traffic in both directions between Howe and Watt Avenues due to a barricaded person, officials said.<\/p>\n

The sheriff’s office said the vehicle stop is believed to be tied to the Howe Avenue shooting.<\/p>\n
Shortly before 4 p.m., a CBS News Sacramento crew at the scene observed what appeared to be an individual down on the ground surrounded by law enforcement officials.<\/p>\n
Around the same time, westbound traffic began flowing through again while eastbound traffic remained stopped.<\/p>\n
Law enforcement officials said it is not clear when the freeway will fully reopen.<\/p>\n
