{"id":457997,"date":"2026-09-09T06:22:26","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T06:22:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/457997\/"},"modified":"2026-09-09T06:22:26","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T06:22:26","slug":"flight-instructor-and-family-killed-in-fresno-plane-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/457997\/","title":{"rendered":"Flight instructor and family killed in Fresno plane crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four people are now confirmed dead following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/article317143996.html\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a plane crash<\/a> that burned five acres of land along the San Joaquin River on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>First responders were called to the scene just before 2 p.m. and found the fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft near the runway of Sierra Sky Park, a public-use airport attached to a residential neighborhood in northwest Fresno.<\/p>\n<p>Two children were pronounced at the scene and a man and a woman were found outside the plane wreckage. They were taken to the hospital and both later died, the Fresno County Sheriff\u2019s Office confirmed over the long holiday weekend.<\/p>\n<p>They were identified as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/article317159366.html\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Craig Eady<\/a> and his wife Danna Eady, both were 41 years old and lived in Auberry in the eastern Fresno County foothills.<\/p>\n<p>The ages and identities of the children have not been released, but according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supportnow.org\/the-eady-family-8efc17ee-51d2-4460-83a7-e42400720d0e?utm_id=97757_v0_s00_e0_tv2_a1dennhbghbm5r&amp;fbclid=IwY2xjawUKyYtwZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjExAGJyaWQRMXJZVnNNclNyeUQ1TUdHWmlzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeQtv82Mp-2P9m-ucYXfb29g4XYNLSK82zmkSEpJRNyMYCNofqFygT4gA8A84_aem_3hsWjbXXtZIMs6nx5y5MoA\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a fundraising campaign<\/a> on the site Supportnow.org, they appear to be the Eadys\u2019 youngest sons and two of their four children.<\/p>\n<p>Danna Eady <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/article317151035.html\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was a certified flight instructor<\/a> teaching at Reedley College, where flight sciences classed were cancelled Tuesday and counseling has been made available to students and staff.<\/p>\n<p>According to a LinkedIn profile, the 41-year-old was the founder and owner of Meraki Aviation, an aircraft rental and flight instruction company. REEDLEY COLLEGE                                                                                        FFA, NTSB Investigation under way<\/p>\n<p>Little information has been released on the crash itself.<\/p>\n<p>It was not immediately clear, for example, whether the plane was arriving at, or departing from, the airstrip, though Sheriff\u2019s Office spokesperson Tony Botti said it\u2019s likely the plane was leaving Sierra Sky Park. It wasn\u2019t clear how long the plane had been in the air or its destination, he said.<\/p>\n<p>The crash is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board, though it will likely take up to a year for a full-finding to be released, Botti said.<\/p>\n<p>Other plane crashes at Sierra Sky Park<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time a crashed on it way into, or out of, Sierra Sky Park.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, crashed through a fence and a pedestrian walkway, before landing on its roof in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/article242460461.html\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the center median of Herndon Avenue.<\/a> In that case, the pilot walked away with minor injuries.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, William Huene and Chase Splan died <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/article123123349.html\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in an experimental aircraft<\/a> that left Sierra Sky Park before plunging into the San Joaquin River.<\/p>\n<p>                                          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1788934942_291_FRS_SierraSkyPark_1.JPG\"   width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" title=\"FRS_SierraSkyPark_1.JPG\" alt=\"A blackened hillside, lower left, between Milburn Pond and the Sierra Sky Park Airport in northwest Fresno shows where a vegetation fire was started after a plane crashed near the airport on Saturday, killing the four occupants aboard.
