(KGET) &#8212; A 54-year-old man on Tuesday pleaded no contest to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in connection with an alleged drunken driving crash that resulted in the death of another motorist in south Bakersfield.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Jose Torres faces 10 years in prison, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Court records show other charges, including murder, were dismissed. A sentencing hearing is set for Oct. 7.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On the night of Aug. 6, 2023, Torres allegedly got behind the wheel after drinking then drove 70 mph &#8212; 20 mph over the posted speed limit &#8212; when he ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle, killing its driver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Torres admitted to drinking, according to police reports. His blood-alcohol content measured 0.11%, police said, above the legal limit of 0.08%.
