{"id":459701,"date":"2026-09-10T19:50:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-10T19:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/459701\/"},"modified":"2026-09-10T19:50:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T19:50:12","slug":"police-ask-for-help-finding-first-of-three-hit-and-run-drivers-connected-to-deadly-crash-long-beach-post-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/459701\/","title":{"rendered":"Police ask for help finding first of three hit-and-run drivers connected to deadly crash \u2022 Long Beach Post News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police on Wednesday asked the public\u2019s assistance in finding a driver and vehicle that fatally struck a pedestrian in a series of hit-and-run collisions in Long Beach in mid-July.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The collisions occurred around 11:40 p.m. July 13 near Ocean Boulevard and Golden Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding officers found a man in the roadway. Long Beach Fire Department personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The victim was identified as 53-year-old Brian McBroom, who police said may have been experiencing homelessness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police said McBroom was crossing Ocean Boulevard northbound outside a crosswalk when he was struck by a newer-model black SUV with black wheels that was traveling eastbound in the No. 2 lane of Ocean Boulevard, just west of Golden Avenue, police said. The SUV was last seen heading eastbound on Ocean Boulevard. Police released a photo of the vehicle Wednesday and asked anyone who recognizes it or knows the driver to contact them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police said McBroom was subsequently struck by a white truck and then a red sedan. None of the three drivers remained at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone with information about the fatal collisions was urged to contact Collision Investigation Detail Detective Ashley Van Holland at 562-570-5130.
