{"id":460405,"date":"2026-09-11T10:02:40","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T10:02:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/460405\/"},"modified":"2026-09-11T10:02:40","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T10:02:40","slug":"dinuba-plant-reduces-staff-as-ruiz-foods-adjusts-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/460405\/","title":{"rendered":"Dinuba plant reduces staff as Ruiz Foods adjusts production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/SAc layoff notice business chyron frame grab still.jpeg\"   width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" title=\"\" alt=\"Layoff notices\"\/><\/p>\n<p>    DINUBA<\/p>\n<p>Ruiz Foods, maker of frozen and ready-to-eat-Mexican food products and brands including El Monterey, has laid off more than 100 employees at its Dinuba manufacturing facility plant in California.<\/p>\n<p>In total, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ruizfoods.com\/\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">family-owned frozen Mexican food<\/a> manufacturing company that began in the family\u2019s kitchen 1964, has laid off 176 employees in Tulare County, according to the company\u2019s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis difficult decision impacts valued members of our team and is necessary to better align production capacity with anticipated customer demand,\u201d Ruiz Foods President and CEO Kimberli Carroll said in a statement to The Fresno Bee.<\/p>\n<p>The Dinuba plant  employs about 1,400 people. Layoffs will be effective Nov. 4. The affected employees were notified on Sept. 2, according to a Ruiz Foods spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>The company said employees whose positions are impacted have received WARN notices at least 60 days prior to the effective date of the workforce reduction, in accordance with California requirements.<\/p>\n<p>In the WARN letter addressed to the Employment Development Department, Senior Vice President of Administration Tony Caetano wrote that of the 176 employees affected, six  were laid off between Sept. 2 and Sept. 9.<\/p>\n<p>Caetano wrote that those six employees did not receive the 60-day notice \u201cdue to the sensitivity of their roles\u201c but were provided with the required pay and benefits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue to operate at our manufacturing facility located in Dinuba, California, County of Tulare,\u201d Caetano wrote.<\/p>\n<p>According to the company, the Dinuba facility,  at 501 S. The company moved its corporate headquarters from Dinuba to Frisco, Texas, in 2024. It also closed its manufacturing facility in the city of Tulare the same year.
