The timing of the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams\u2019 travel to Melbourne, Australia, was a hot-button topic<\/a> heading into the team\u2019s Week 1 battle.<\/p>\n

Following San Francisco\u2019s 27-7 rout<\/a> of its division rivals, the travel debate did not slow down.<\/p>\n

Mike Evans<\/a> asked reporters, \u201cWhen did they get out here?\u201d regarding the Rams \u2013 who arrived in Australia just a day before the matchup \u2013 and responded \u201cOh, dang,\u201d when he was given the answer by reporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got to give your body time to adjust,\u201d Evans said. \u201cObviously, whenever the game is scheduled, you\u2019ve got to be ready to play but maybe a few days earlier would have been ideal. No matter what, we don\u2019t care if they came a week or two weeks earlier. We had it on our mind to come out here and execute and we did that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Evans looked like a player whose body had adjusted as he finished with six receptions, 49 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n

As for the 49ers, who arrived last week<\/a>, Evans says the adjustment period paid off following the victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was definitely worth it coming a little bit early,\u201d Evans said. \u201cI feel like we got acclimated. [49ers strength and conditioning coach Dustin Perry] and Kyle did a great job of getting us here early and all of the guys, we attacked it. We didn\u2019t complain. We actually enjoyed being out here in Melbourne.\u201d<\/p>\n

If it wasn\u2019t already a good trip for the 49ers prior to the game, snagging a win to open the season made it all worthwhile.<\/p>\n
