Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The lopsided defeat immediately sparked online speculation that Los Angeles\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/06\/sports\/rams-reveal-unusual-travel-plan-for-16-hour-flight-to-australia-vs-49ers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">compressed travel schedule<\/a> contributed to its lethargic performance. The Rams landed in Melbourne approximately 24 hours before kickoff, while San Francisco spent a week acclimating.<\/p>\n<p>McVay would not entertain that explanation.<\/p>\n<p>The numbers illustrated how thoroughly a Rams team touted as a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/09\/sports\/how-rams-can-avoid-super-team-curse-to-be-last-ones-standing\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Super Bowl favorite and \u201csuper team\u201d<\/a> was outplayed.<\/p>\n<p>Sean McVay had no interest in blaming the Rams\u2019 travel itinerary for their 27-7 debacle against the 49ers. The 20-point margin represented the Rams\u2019 first double-digit loss since 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Myles Garrett finished without a tackle or quarterback hit for just the fourth time in his career. Kam Curl departed with an ankle injury, while Davis Allen and Nate Landman also left the game.<\/p>\n<p>The Rams arrived carrying an offseason\u2019s worth of championship expectations.
