The Bakersfield Fire Department and the Bakersfield Police Department will host two public ceremonies today at Bakersfield Fire Station No. 15 at 1315 Buena Vista Road in southwest Bakersfield.<\/p>\n
The reason: to remember what we must not forget \u2014 even though sometimes we may want to.<\/p>\n
The morning ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. It is dedicated to remembering the 2,977 people killed in the deadliest terrorist attacks in American history.<\/p>\n
The evening ceremony is to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will feature a special roll call in partnership with the Portrait of a Warrior Gallery to memorialize 27 Kern County residents who were called to duty in the wake of 9\/11, and who later gave their lives in the performance of their duty.<\/p>\n
