Firefighters climb 22 stories in Sacramento to honor 9\/11 first responders<\/p>\n

\"Mike<\/a>SACRAMENTO, Calif. \u2014<\/p>\n

Firefighters participated in a 22-story stair climb at the Esquire Tower in downtown Sacramento to honor the first responders who died on 9\/11. <\/p>\n

Crews climbed up and down the tower five times, completing 110 flights of stairs to represent the height of the World Trade Center towers. <\/p>\n

“It makes you humble. Something like that we don’t have in Belgium,” said Pieter-Jan Suetens, a firefighter from Belgium. “It is important to remember the things that need to be remembered, and that’s why it’s important to me to be here today.”<\/p>\n

During the climb, each firefighter carried the name of someone who died on 9\/11. At the top of the tower, they rang a bell and hung up name tags to honor the fallen.<\/p>\n
