He also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of assault and battery and admitted a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a gun.<\/p>\n<p>As part of his plea deal with prosecutors, a count of murder was dismissed.<\/p>\n<p>Nava pleaded guilty to shooting Johnny Avalos in the chest at 2248 W. Colchester Drive, near Brookhurst Street, on June 27, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Nava was sentenced to 23 years and two months in prison.
