Carlos Santos headlining at Harvelle\u2019s (Thursday, Sept. 10)<\/p>\n

Carlos Santos will be headlining at Harvelle\u2019s on Thursday night. The Puerto Rican, LA-based comedian and actor has starred in Netflix\u2019s Gentified, Amazon Freeve\u2019s Primo and Hulu\u2019s Vacation Friends. Annual plane pull at Long Beach Airport (Saturday, Sept. 12)<\/p>\n

Could you pull a plane? Whether or not you can, you can cheer on individuals, or teams of athletes and disability advocates, as they attempt to yank an airplane 12 feet down a runway at Long Beach Airport. Every year, the Law Enforcement Torch Run hosts this spectacle to support the Special Olympics of Southern California. The event and parking are free, but there is a ticketed \u201cKid Zone\u201d section<\/a> where young ones can demonstrate their own feats of strength. A 5K run for tacos and beer (Saturday, Sept. 12)<\/p>\n

\"\"Tacos and Beer 5K run and festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, in Shoreline Aquatic Park.<\/p>\n

Grab a couple of tacos and a cold one after running a 5K \u2014 now with a new (hopefully breezier) route through Shoreline Aquatic Park. Cheer on the runners and walkers, or hurry up and sign up to run here<\/a>. Participants get a T-shirt, two tacos, a cold beer, a medal and are greeted with live music and entertainment at the finish line. The race starts at 8:00 a.m.<\/p>\n

Fifth annual California Turkish festival (Sunday, Sept. 13)<\/p>\n

The Association of Turkish Americans of Southern California is hosting its fifth annual California Turkish Festival at Shoreline Aquatic Park on Sunday. The event is free and open to the public, and will be a great chance to snack on fresh baklava, Turkish coffee and kebabs. There will be traditional musical performances as well as arts and crafts.
