A car plunged as much as 50 feet from an overpass in downtown Los Angeles early Friday, killing the driver after the vehicle landed upside down on the street below.<\/p>\n
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on Grand Avenue, where the car went through a railing on the upper roadway and fell onto Lower Grand Avenue.<\/p>\n
ABC7 reported<\/a>, citing the Los Angeles Police Department, that the fall was estimated at 40 to 50 feet \u2014 roughly the height of a three- or four-story building.<\/p>\n The driver, identified only as a 30-year-old man, was alone in the car and died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n The Long Drop<\/p>\n The New York Post reported<\/a> that LAPD said the driver had been traveling northbound on Upper Grand Avenue when he veered from the roadway.
