{"id":461893,"date":"2026-09-12T19:40:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-12T19:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/461893\/"},"modified":"2026-09-12T19:40:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-12T19:40:09","slug":"arson-suspect-arrested-in-sherman-oaks-freeway-fires","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/461893\/","title":{"rendered":"Arson suspect arrested in Sherman Oaks freeway fires"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Officers arrested a man Saturday morning suspected of starting several small grass fires around a freeway transition road in Sherman Oaks, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>The California Highway Patrol received a call at approximately 8:21 a.m. about a brush fire on the right side of the s<a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/search\/?api=1&amp;query=34.165013,-118.46978\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">outhbound 405 Freeway  at the westbound 101 Freeway<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>CHP and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the incident shortly afterward, temporarily shutting down the transition road around 8:40 a.m. <\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival, the Fire Department located five separate spot fires, all about five feet in diameter. The fires have since been extinguished and the road has reopened.<\/p>\n<p>An <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/lafd.org\/alert\/grass-fire-now-out-09122026-inc0533\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">arson suspect<\/a> was found at the scene and is in the custody of the CHP, although no specific charges have been made public, authorities told The Times.
