Top San Jose Sharks prospect Quentin Musty<\/a> once again looks leaner as he heads into his fourth NHL training camp.<\/p>\n

Musty spoke exclusively with SHD on Saturday and said he\u2019s gained five pounds of muscle. After a change in his physical body type, the Sharks forward felt ready to make an impact. He certainly did that with the San Jose Barracuda<\/a> last season, scoring 45 (21 goals, 24 assists) in 61 games.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I added about five pounds this summer. Definitely slimmed down a bit again. Just trying to get as lean as I can and as fast as I can,\u201d Musty said on Saturday. \u201cThe big focus for me: I leaned out a lot last year and came into camp looking and feeling pretty good. Honestly, adding a little bit of weight back and just being bigger, trying to be more of a force in the corners.\u201d<\/p>\n

Musty changed his off-season training a bit in 2026. After spending 2025 in Toronto, the San Jose Sharks prospect was in Boston<\/a>. The winger skated with multiple NHLers, including potential Sharks teammates Will Smith<\/a> and Michael Kesselring<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a very high-end group. I was lucky enough to be able to share the ice with a lot of those guys,\u201d Musty said. \u201cObviously it\u2019s summer skates; it\u2019s fun, and the guys are having fun the whole time, but they work hard the whole time. It\u2019s almost like in-season skates with the pace of those skates.<\/p>\n

[I\u2019m] just trying to learn. There\u2019s a ton of guys out there [I\u2019m] trying to learn from. It was nice skating with those guys for the first time in the summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

With a shortened training camp this season, Musty knows that the 2026 Rookie Faceoff will be a head start for a first impression this season. If he wants to make the San Jose Sharks out of camp, this is where it will begin.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s my fourth training camp now; I know what it takes. Like I said, trying to add an element to my game, just show them I could play up and down the lineup,\u201d Musty explained. \u201cThis organization has a lot of high-end talent. I\u2019m a bigger body. I like to think of myself as an offensive player, but I\u2019m just trying to show them I can have that aspect of my game as well. Work my way up the lineup that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Musty will skate on a line with familiar teammates on Saturday. The winger will play the wing with Filip Bystedt<\/a> in the middle and Cam Lund<\/a>, who is returning from a major shoulder injury, on the right. Musty also skated on the top power-play unit.<\/p>\n
