Two minors riding in a self-driving Waymo<\/a> were arrested in San Francisco<\/a> after the company became aware of a firearm inside the robotaxi, pulled it over and alerted police \u2014\u00a0who later recovered a loaded, AR-style \u201cghost gun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Waymo said it pulled the vehicle over after becoming aware of a \u201cviolation of our terms of service involving a firearm,\u201d then alerted emergency services and cooperated with San Francisco police, according to SFGATE<\/a> and the Los Angeles Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

San Francisco police officers from Richmond Station were called to 40th Avenue and Cabrillo Street before 4 a.m. on Sept. 3, following a report that two passengers inside the autonomous vehicle<\/a> had a firearm.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they detained the two passengers, a boy and a girl whose names and ages have not been released because they are minors.<\/p>\n

Police said<\/a> they searched the vehicle and recovered a loaded AR-style rifle described as a ghost gun.<\/p>\n

Ghost guns don\u2019t have serial numbers, making them difficult for law enforcement to trace.<\/p>\n

Officers also searched the two juveniles and recovered suspected marijuana and mace spray, according to police<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Both juveniles were arrested on charges related to illegal firearm possession. They were taken into custody and booked into San Francisco\u2019s Juvenile Justice Center.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Waymo has contacted police over the behavior of underage passengers. <\/p>\n

A similar incident happened in July, when San Mateo police responded to a Waymo after the company alerted authorities that two 15-year-olds inside the self-driving vehicle appeared to be drinking and firing an object from the car.<\/p>\n

Police ultimately determined the teenagers had been firing Orbeez water beads from the vehicle while drinking.<\/p>\n

\u201cParents do you know where your teens are? @waymo does!\u201d the San Mateo Police Department wrote on Facebook<\/a> following that incident.<\/p>\n

The Sept. 3 incident remains under investigation, according to San Francisco police. <\/p>\n

The California Post reached out to Waymo about the incident but they declined to comment.<\/p>\n
