Approximately 1.2 million people in the U.S. are living in a nursing home or a skilled nursing facility, according to the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living.<\/p>\n
U.S. News and World Report released its 2026 installment<\/a> of the nationwide health care rankings. The list notes the best nursing homes in the Sacramento area.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s what to know:<\/p>\n How were the nursing homes rated?<\/p>\n The ratings were made by evaluating 17 key factors<\/a> including nursing homes with short-term rehabilitation and long-term care, nurse staffing, patient outcomes and facility deficiencies. Additionally, the rating looked at homes that received reimbursement from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services<\/a> in July 2025.<\/p>\n All the data used in the report\u2019s list came from publicly available sources including the CMS Nursing Homes Data Archive<\/a> and the Long-Term Care Community Coalition.<\/a><\/p>\n Which facilities were among the top-rated short-term care nursing homes in the Sacramento area?<\/p>\n Out of the 57 nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities in the Sacramento area, 12 facilities specializing in short-term care received \u201chigh-performing\u201d ratings, all with five out of five stars.
