San Francisco 49ers<\/a> rookie wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling<\/a> will miss at least a month because of an ankle injury, sources told NFL Network.<\/p>\n

Stribling sustained the noncontact injury<\/a> in the second quarter of San Francisco’s season-opening 27-7 victory over the Los Angeles Rams<\/a>on Thursday night in Australia and did not return to the contest. Sources described the injury as a deltoid ligament sprain in Stribling’s left ankle.<\/p>\n

Stribling might ultimately need surgery, according to sources, although his recovery plan was uncertain as of Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Niners coach Kyle Shanahan indicated after the game that Stribling avoided an Achilles tear but said the team needed to conduct further tests to determine a specific diagnosis.<\/p>\n

San Francisco selected Stribling with the first pick of the second round (No. 33) in this year’s draft. The former Ole Miss star had a strong training camp and earned a big role in the offense entering the season.br\/]<\/p>\n
