California leaders are responding after a viral post warned artificial intelligence could end humanity within the next decade. <\/p>\n

Former Anthropic and OpenAI researcher Jacob Coxon detailed his concerns<\/a> on social media this week. He accused both companies of not acting responsibly during his three years working for them. <\/p>\n

This week, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation that ramps up assessments of artificial intelligence safety risks<\/a>. On California Politics 360, Ashley Zavala sits down with the CEO of an AI start-up, Stefano Bellasio<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Right now, several cities and counties have paused plans to build data centers. Newsom is expected to announce new regulations on data centers this week. Zavala sits down with Assembly Member Rick Chavez Zbur<\/a>, who wrote some of the legislation that would regulate data centers and their use of natural resources. <\/p>\n

With less than two months from the midterm elections, both parties are ramping up their campaigning, with control of Congress in the balance. Zavala invites a panel of political analysts to break down the recent campaign moves. <\/p>\n

This November, voters will decide whether if ID\u2019s should be checked in order to cast a ballot in California. Zavala explains what would change under Proposition 39<\/a>.<\/p>\n
