{"id":462953,"date":"2026-09-14T00:50:15","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T00:50:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/462953\/"},"modified":"2026-09-14T00:50:15","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T00:50:15","slug":"orange-county-car-influencer-among-two-killed-in-irvine-mclaren-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/462953\/","title":{"rendered":"Orange County car influencer among two killed in Irvine McLaren Crash"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A high-speed car crash in Irvine claimed two lives on Sunday morning, including a person affiliated with a well-known Orange County car show that hosts thousands of vehicles in San Clemente each week, according to police and social media posts.<\/p>\n<p>Irvine Police said two people inside a 2019 McLaren were killed in an explosive crash after the vehicle struck a tree near Culver Drive and Deerfield Avenue at 12:18 a.m., according to a department news release.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle was stopped at a red light at the intersection and took off at a \u201chigh rate of speed\u201d when the light changed, according to police. The driver \u201clost control of the vehicle\u201d and skipped over a curb before striking a tree, police said. <\/p>\n<p>The car \u201csplit in two and caught fire,\u201d authorities said. Police did not identify either driver.<\/p>\n<p>A post from the popular Instagram page <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/southoccarsandcoffee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u201cSouth OC Cars and Coffee\u201d<\/a> identified one of the victims as 27-year-old James Wehr, who co-founded the group. The group hosts a weekly car show in San Clemente that often attracts thousands of performance cars and muscle cars, according to its website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis morning, just after midnight, we lost our darling son and brother James, in a motor accident.
